my home made shop vac adapter for dewalt dws779/ dws780 miter saw
This is how to easily build a multi-functional, cheap vacuum hose adapter for the DeWALT DWS 779 or DWS 780 herringbone saw at the factory saw dust collector, which is better than the DeWALT accessory
Mods are not required for the factory port itself.
After the recent purchase of DeWALT DWS779, I learned like others that DeWALT decided not to use a standard vacuum hose connection on the dust collection port on the saw, instead, choose to provide a proprietary fast connection adapter system that provides different adapters for a variety of tools.
I didn\'t like the DeWALT solution and decided to launch my own solution.
Not easy to find home
On the web I did my favorite approach, I did my due diligence and engineering and came up with this simple alternative, I think it\'s almost half cheaper than the DeWALT attachment!
This homemade vacuum hose dust collection adapter is also more versatile than the DeWALT available dust collection Port accessory set required to connect 1-11/4 and/or 2-
The saw has a 1/2 standard vacuum hose dedicated to the \"quick connector\" dust port.
This is both a fast-changing approach and a simple change in the size of different hoses, as there is no need to unscrew the extra adapter that DeWALT needs and there is a risk of losing it.
For reference, DeWALT accessories (
About $36)are:For a 1-
1/4 vacuum hose use adapter dvw9000 for 2-add extra adapter
Add adapter DWV9190OR-1 for vacuum hose/2--
Build it yourself. . . PARTS NEEDED (
About $18)
Project 1: more vacuum in workshopAdapterLowe\'s (preferred)
I am using similar items in the Home Depot Project 2: flexible PVC pipe coupling 1-1/2 in to 1-
1/4 size Home Depot (preferred)
Did I use it or a similar item from low\'s shorten? Shop 1 vacuum is more
A smaller step-by-step pipe adapter.
Cut the adapter part to 4-
3/16 long from the big end.
This retains the appropriate step of inner diameter to take 1-1
Insert the 1/4 standard vacuum hose from the large opening end.
Discard the smaller step cut-off.
Rubber coupling with small 1-installation item 2
The end of the 1/4-sized saw dust removal pipe at the back of the saw.
Gently tighten the screw fixture of the silk worm drive.
Insert multiple
The vacuum adapter inserts the smaller end into the large end of the flexible coupling until it is well installed but not stuck.
Worm drive screw fixture not installed/used at one end of flexible coupling.
This allows the vacuum adapter to be easily disassembled and used for other vacuum handling tasks if required.
Now we have three different \"quick change\" use options available for dust removal:)
Insert the factory dust bag into the large end of the vacuum adapter until it is foundInsert a 1-
1/4 standard vacuum hose through the large end of the vacuum adapter until it seatsc)Insert a 2-
Place the 1/2 standard vacuum hose into the large end of the vacuum adapter until it is found. Note: If you do not intend to use 1-
1/4 vacuum hose, then \"stair steps\" on multiple\"
Adapter that 1-
Can Cut 1/4 of the hose paste to further improve access 2-
1/2 hose or dust bag.
This is an irreversible step if the adapter is shortened in this way.
In my opinion, the method provided here is an improvement on the saw that is already good, and is cheaper and more versatile than the proprietary method of dust-absorbing accessories for factories.
In addition, you have more vacuum
The adapter can always be used for other normal vacuuming purposes between the two hose sizes in the store or at work.
I hope you find this modification useful in your store. Enjoy!
